Cherrish Those Funny Moments When Everything Else Appears Grey

You sit in the car, caught in the middle of the morning traffic. You took a day off work and what you see when you look out of the window is a grey sky with rain threatening to fall any moment – or it’s just one of those days when you feel blue without any apparent reason.

Do you know how to support yourself during such moments? – preventing your thoughts from spiraling further and further down and encouraging them in the opposite direction, where there are funny, uplifting experiences and thoughts waiting to be brought back to life for you to enjoy and laugh about once again?

Some experiences are never really forgotten but have been buried in an abandoned corner of our mind, while others are easy to recall by looking at pictures, reading notes we scribbled into our notebooks or watching videos. The trick is to create a space in your mind and in your drawer dedicated to those funny moments that made you laugh and feel good. A resource you can draw on when you need some good cheering up. How To Cheer Someone Up

Support Them

Some people find it hard to ask for help, so don’t leave them to struggle on their own. Should you observe unusual behaviour, consider if this could be a signal that someone needs your help. Don’t assume you should wait to be asked.

Reach Out

In difficult times, social boundaries shift, and we don’t always want to turn to our closest friends. It can be easier to tell your problems to an acquaintance, or colleague, if you feel they won’t judge you. Be receptive to everyone, not just your closest friends. My Office Toys For Grumpy Days In The Office

Over the years I’ve collected quite a number of silly toys that will cheer me up during a dreadful day at the office, to distract myself or clear my mind. I keep them in a box at home and take only a few with me into work, exchanging them when I need a change.

Here Is Why A Faked Smile Is Good For You

I know we usually despise people for giving us a fake smile to hide the fact that they are actually dozing off on the inside. However, the fake smile can be a kind of ‘brain manipulation tool’ for those low mood days. Apparently, according to some studies, the brain can’t distinguish between a fake and genuine smile and graciously releases endorphins, natural painkillers and serotonin, which work together to make you feel good, even though you tricked it into lifting your mood. It’s said that it’s actually impossible to feel genuinely angry at the same time.

I must confess, I tried it and it really works. Recently, after work I felt quite stressed and my mood wasn’t the best; so I was putting on a medium sized , friendly smile while I was walking along the street. Keep in mind: A smile that is too broad can raise unwanted attention and people might think you’re nuts.:-) Read the rest of this entry »
