I think there are many reasons for taking some time out to re-discover your sensuality. It can boost your confidence, strengthen your resilience during strenuous times and make you feel at ease with your body and mind.
How about spending a day pampering your five senses: Sight, Smell, Sound, Taste and Touch
Transforming a routine act into a sensory ritual
Our bodies respond instantly to stimulation, which is why our muscles soften and our minds relax when we’re touched.
Refocus your mind
One technique you can try at home to re-educate the way you feel about your body is by cleansing the areas of your body that you dislike most. The trick is to imagine that someone else is bathing you or caressing your body for the first time. It takes time to override a visual image of negativity, but soon you will find it easier to appreciate and accept the loveliness of your curves, contours and the softness of your skin.
Pamper your body
Go to a spa, have a body massage, a relaxing facial treatment, pedicure, manicure, whatever you feel will do you good.
Practice slowing down
Take a look around you. Smell a flower. Take a walk. Feel the breeze on your skin, smell the air, keep the mind still and just be in the present moment. Read about Capturing And Savouring A Happy Moment.
Increase your participation in nature and the arts
Whether it be painting, poetry, writing or the theatre, do this individually, and then plan outings such as picnics or walks in the park. Visit Places Of Comfort.
Ask yourself the following questions:
What smell do you associate with sensuality?
What type of music/sounds?
What kind of food?
What feels good on your skin and body?
What pictures do you have in mind when thinking about the word?
What surroundings do you think would ignite a feeling of sensuality?
Get to know your physiological responses to your sensual experiences and what feelings they led to.
Mark phrases in a book or cut out pictures of a magazine that you would associate with sensuality and combine them to a piece of art that will inspire you to future sensual excursions.
